Wollaston Township - Community Emergency Plan

emo logo
We want to make sure that the community knows what actions you should and should not take during an emergency such as a flood, tornado, extended hydro outage, chemical spill, severe winter storm or wind storm.

For example:

  • Having a 72 hour emergency preparedness kit on hand to provide for your family’s needs in an emergency
  • Not using the phone unless emergency assistance is needed
  • Listening to the ratio for more information, not responding to the emergency site or township office.

The Township has entered into an agreement with the Coe Hill Legion to provide an Emergency Station in the case of an emergency. This facility will provide immediate shelter, communication, heat, water and access to first aid. Wollaston residents will know this service is available when a special indicator sign is placed in front of the building.

Our Emergency Plan is updated annually and defines municipal emergencies as situations caused by the forces of nature, an accident, or an intentional act that becomes a danger of major proportions to life or property. When an emergency occurs affecting the lives and property of our community, the initial and prime responsibility for providing immediate assistance rests with the local Municipal Government.

Wollaston passed an updated Emergency Plan and Program on June 14, 2011.
